carnivores unite

i want to go to burning man. we have faculty lectures every week here and my printmaking professor gave his this week on burning man and now i want to go so bad. for my lame friends (because i have so many of you) who don't know what it is, burning man is a gathering of sorts that takes place every year at the end of august in the desert in nevada. it's eight days long and you can essentially do whatever you want. it's like a community experience where you just enjoy other people and what other people bring to the festival. people bring art works, like buses and cars decorated in crazy things like mirrors and balsa wood and some make art there and there's parties and events and... it's just supposed to be a really amazing experience. you're part of this amazing artistic community where everyone just wants to experience everyone else and help each other out. it's kind of expensive to go, but i've decided it's going on my list of things to do before i die. i want to revive becky and my dream of buying a school bus and ripping all the seats out and i want to do something crazy to it and take it to burning man have make some crazy community art project. the thing is, i think i'd have to paint my self in sparkly florescent paint or wear lingerie with fuzzy platform boots to fit in. but i could get over this. anyone want to come?

it's so beautiful here in lacoste today and of course i have so much work to do! justin and i took a break and went up to tan by our chateau for a few hours, but now it's back to printmaking and art history papers.

paris category of the day: clocks!

this clock, i'm sure you've seen before, is from the musee d'orsay. as the musee d'orsay used to be a train station and this is the most gorgeous clock ever, every time i watch benjamin button, i always feel like the clock the blind man makes at the beginning for the train station should be this clock.

the clock outside the louvre! you'd think with such an impressive building, they'd give you a little more of an impressive clock, but the statues and facade around it still make it pretty cool.

this is actually another clock at the musee d'orsay. i thought at first that it was the backside of the clock, but then i realized that this clock looks out over the skyline of paris, so it can't be the same clock because the other one faces inside the building. nonetheless, it's so cool because you're just walking trying to get into another exhibit and you look over and you have this gorgeous site. and you can see sacre-coeur out the glass too.

the luxumbourg garden clock. it's at one end of the garden and if you stand with your back to it, you look out over the whole garden with the pond and the trees and the beautiful flowers everywhere.

this is one of the coolest clocks ever. this and the second musee d'orsay clock are probably my two favorite clocks ever (yes, i keep track of these things). it's at the centre pompidou and it's so neat cause it totally fits the rest of the building with how modern and artsy it is. all the little colored gadgets in the middle move around with the hands too.

yay for clocks!!
